Marquess of Salisbury

The Marquess of Salisbury was (as Viscount Cranborne) Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence between 1992 and 1994 and then Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Lords between 1994 and 1997. He had previously sat in the House of Commons as the Member of Parliament for Dorset South between 1979 and 1987. He retired from the House of Lords in 2017 and is now Chairman of the Constitution Reform Group and Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire.
